Hi, my name is Lisa and I am the wife of Jim, for 17 years, Mom to Riley our almost 13year old son, and Hanna our 9 year old daughter, oh and our mascot Lizzy, our1 year old Black Lab/ Coonhound mix, who rescued us last year.
We are known as The Nomad Family as we tend to go wherever we are needed. My Aunt labeled this when Hanna was an infant, and she thought it would offend us...well it didn't as it is our family in a nut shell! See, we are Catholic and believe that God is in control and when He blessed us with 2 children, that have many medical problems, we would do whatever we needed to, and that means moving quite frequently.
We are originally from Connecticut, but due to Hanna being diagnosed with Lyme Disease, and arthritis from Lyme when she was 18 months old, we moved to Florida, when Hanna turned 2, God graced us with employment for Jim. We put Riley in school and after a half year of school and continued problems with his Asthma and other health issues, we pulled him out of school in January 2007. We decided on the name Our New Journey, as we are continually on a journey throughout life, and homeschooling was the newest one. Everything went well for a year of living in Florida, but then when the fires hit in May of 2007, Riley's Asthma only got worse. So, on the advice of his Pulmonologist, we packed up and moved to North Carolina, where God graced Jim with a job. Homeschooling continued and all was well, so we thought...Then in April of 2008, Hanna was diagnosed with Neurological Lyme Disease, and by the grace of God...Jim was able to get his job back in Florida and we moved back.
So, as you can see homeschooling is the best option for us, as both kids are at the Dr.'s quite frequently.
